As you may remember, I got new books tuesday this week. I fotgot them at my friends place but now they are back and I'm ready to tell you more.
Serendipity Quilts has several projcts all with fine instructions and step by step pictures. Susan Carlson begins by picking a drawing, a simple pencildrawing is the best for a start. It should be easier than using a photo. The drawing is transferred to fabric and the "painting" can begin. The pictures here are from The Quiltshow.

All of the scraps are sorted into reds, blues and so on. The now work as your palette to "color" the drawing, just like the childhood colorbooks.
The fabric is secured with a drop of glue and with edge open for othe fabric to be tucked under. The fabric is cut to fit the lines on the drawing.

When the coloring is finished, the quilting can begin. You can also choose to have a layer of tulle on the top and then quilt. Similar to Happy Village Quilts.
It's an mazing technique, which immediately opens the creative part of my brain. Why is it, that quilters always find new projects while working on another??
Is it like, when having had a nice meal, you get to talk about even more food?
I would like to find drawings of fish, whales or maybe a seahorse for my serendipity project ;))
Oh this looks so interesting , it is so creative and you get to decide which colors to use .I'll be watching for more progress ;-)
